Position Overview
As Sheet Metal Manager, you'll keep projects running smoothly by coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment. You'll ensure the work meets specifications, stays on schedule, and fits the budget. Reporting to the Project and Construction Managers, you'll play a key role in planning, scheduling, and guiding installations from start to finish.
This is a great opportunity for a tradesperson who enjoys both hands-on work and leadership. The role is split evenly between sheet metal work and service management, with plenty of room to help grow this division as the company continues to expand.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead by example, supervise, and support your team.
Scheduling: Build short- and long-term schedules with the Project and Construction Managers.
Team Coordination: Assign tasks to Foreman Level B and Journeypeople.
Site Organization: Keep sites efficient, safe, and uncluttered.
Documentation: Review plans, understand project scope, and issue RFIs.
Health & Safety: Implement project-specific safety practices.
Quality Assurance: Uphold QAQC standards on every project.
Resource Management: Order and manage materials and equipment.
Subcontractor Oversight: Ensure compliance with project requirements.
Progress Reporting: Track work and adjust as needed.
Other Duties: Support project needs while maintaining high standards.
Skills & Requirements
Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain detail-oriented.
Organized, proactive, and reliable with strong problem-solving abilities.
Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication.
Proficient in modern technologies and skilled with blueprints, mechanical drawings, and construction documentation.
Canadian experience as a Foreman in the SM industry.
Strong work ethic and team-player mindset.
Education & Experience
Minimum Experience: 10+ years in the construction industry, including 5+ years as a manager.
Certification: Red Seal Certified.
Technology Proficiency: Skilled in Google Business Suite; familiarity with AutoDesk, Trimble, Bluebeam, or NavisWorks is an asset.
Additional Training: Formal education in construction management is an asset.
