Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Technician to join our team at Fleet Canada Inc. The ideal candidate will have experience in fabricating and preparing detail parts using a variety of tools and equipment.
This role involves working with blueprints, setting up machinery, and ensuring all specifications are met accurately. The position requires the ability to operate independently while ensuring adherence to safety protocols in a dynamic fabrication environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare machines, equipment, and tools required for the job.
Weld saw blades, layout parts, and deburr edges for precise setups.
Use proper blocks, dies, templates, and sample parts to complete fabrication tasks.
Securely affix workpieces to machines and set pressure gauges as needed.
Review blueprints and specifications to ensure accuracy.
Set machine stops, guides, feeds, speeds, and temperatures for various fabrication processes.
Perform minor machine maintenance, including oiling, coolant adjustments, and blade replacements.
Maximize material usage and ensure proper material selection.
Operate a range of machinery including brakes, punches, drills, saws, presses, and cranes.
Routinely perform tasks like grinding, sanding, and filing to achieve required dimensions and contours.
Use heaters, adjust coolant/air pressure, and prepare materials such as rivets and quenching setups.
Monitor heat treat times and freezer controls, ensuring compliance with specifications.
Perform first-off dimensioning checks to meet customer and quality standards.
Ensure proper material handling, process paperwork, and maintain accurate inventory counts.
Adhere to safety protocols, including machine guards and ventilation systems, and inspect tools and equipment regularly.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, complying with all health and safety regulations.
May perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years of related post-secondary education in a technical discipline or equivalent on-the-job experience.
1-2 years of hands-on fabrication experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and templates.
Proficient in operating various fabrication tools and equipment.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work independently.
