Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of field crews installing shallow utilities for power and telecommunications.
Read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accurate and efficient installation.
Organize equipment, materials, and workforce to meet production goals and project schedules.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
Maintain accurate documentation including job progress, materials used, and crew time reports.
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors.
Inspect work to confirm quality and adherence to specifications.
Troubleshoot on-site challenges and implement effective solutions.
Train and mentor crew members, promoting skill development and teamwork.
Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years of experience
in shallow utility construction for
power and/or telecommunications
projects.
Previous supervisory or foreman experience
is
required
.
Strong understanding of shallow utility installation methods (ducts, vaults, conduit systems, cable pulling, etc.).
Knowledge of local utility standards, permitting processes, and inspection requirements.
Proven ability to lead, organize, and motivate field crews.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (Class 1 or 3 an asset).
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and meet physical demands of the job.
Safety certifications such as
First Aid, WHMIS, Ground Disturbance, and H2S Alive
are assets.
