ABOUT RESEAU ACCESS NETWORK:



Reseau ACCESS Network is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting wellness, dignity, and self-determination for people living with or affected by HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs).

We provide prevention education, support services, and advocacy in collaboration with local partners, striving to create inclusive, healthy, and empowered communities throughout the Greater Sudbury region.

POSITION PURPOSE:



As part of our team, the Sexual Health Coordinator will work with local partners to address HIV/HCV prevention needs gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (MSM) (18+).

This role combines education, outreach, and community development to reduce new infections, promote healthy relationships, and empower individuals to take control of their health.

The Sexual Health Coordinator will provide support counselling, develops awareness campaigns, and ensures access to prevention, testing, and treatment services while addressing stigma and discrimination.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Development & Partnership Building



Acts as a liaison between Reseau ACCESS Network and local community organizations, committees and other gay/MSM population programs in advancing prevention initiatives for gay/MSM population and building supportive environments. Establishes, facilitates, and maintains collaborative partnership opportunities with local community organizations and groups that provide service to gay/MSM population. Participate in local community planning initiatives related to gay/MSM population and promotes integration of HIV/HCV into programs, services and policies-procedures. Represents Reseau ACCESS Network at public meetings and committees and directs partnership relationship strategies to advance the mission of the organization.

Education, Awareness, & Training



Develop and deliver engaging workshops, campaigns, and social media content on safer sex, stigma, gender identity, and HIV/HCV prevention. Coordinate and participate in major events such as Pride, Frosh Week, and the Classroom Closet Conference. Create and distribute relevant educational materials in collaboration with partners like CATIE and GMSH. Work with Reseau ACCESS Network's multidisciplinary team to plan and implement outreach, testing, and awareness initiatives for the gay/MSM community. Serve as a knowledgeable resource on LGBTQ2S+ health, HIV/HCV, stigma, and discrimination for clients, staff, volunteers, and community partners. Maintain online and social media platforms related to gay/MSM programming, responding to media and public inquiries with approval. Build and strengthen relationships with Francophone and Indigenous organizations to promote inclusive, culturally safe services.

Support and Outreach



Provide one-on-one and group supportive counselling to individuals identifying as gay/MSM, addressing issues such as sexual orientation, self-esteem, and internalized homophobia. Work collaboratively with the Gay/MSM Sexual Health Clinic's multidisciplinary team to offer education, referrals, and support. Coordinate and maintain the Online Outreach Program (e.g., Grindr, Scruff) to connect with individuals seeking information and support. Organize and participate in outreach initiatives at local venues, community gatherings, and Pride events.

Program Administration & Collaboration



Track and report all program activities through systems such as OCASE and OCHART, ensuring accurate and timely submissions. Assist in developing and evaluating program [lans and goals in collaboration with the Executive Director. Participate in staff meetings, network gatherings, and professional development opportunities. Contribute to the training of volunteers and new staff as part of the multidisciplinary team. Support fundraising activities and other organizational activities as needed. Ensure that files are secure, confidential and have all necessary backups. Meet regularly with the Executive Director and Services to keep them fully informed on program developments, problems and activities. Participate in networking opportunities with peer GMSH coordinators / workers through the Ontario AIDS Network and/or other peer opportunities. Participate in staff meetings and other staff sharing opportunities. Provide input for organizational reviews.

Working Conditions



35-hour work week, overtime compensated by time off in lieu. Physical requirements include the dexterity to reach, stand, squat, twist, lift light loads, and the ability to do sedentary work. Must be able to work in a variety of settings.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Required



Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Social Services, Health Promotion, or a related discipline. Access to a vehicle and valid driver's license. Experience working in community health, sexual health, or harm reduction settings. Strong knowledge of issues related to sexuality, gender identity, mental health, and sexual health. Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, perspectives and organizations an asset. Demonstrated excellence in written, presentation, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Proven ability to build relationships with diverse communities and work collaboratively with community partners. Experience working with volunteers and coordinating community events. Creative, self-directed, adaptable with strong leadership, ability to work under pressure, and project management skills. Must be able to work evenings and weekends when required in a variety of social and physical settings. Sensitive to issues of diversity and a commitment to support the mission and philosophy of Reseau ACCESS Network, and work with diverse populations and backgrounds in a non-judgmental approach.

Assets



Fluency in French and English both oral and written. Experience working in a non-profit community-based organization. Applicants from Indigenous and or Francophone communities or those with lived experience are considered an asset.
