The SWC will be responsible to provide assistance to seniors based on specific health, moral support and promotion of an active life with programs offered by SFB and other organizations in our community. Gatherings and activities will be a part of the program that will aim to seniors wellbeing in addition to one one consultation during their visit to the food bank.Tasks and Responsibilities:Identify needs that affect isolated and vulnerable seniors that may impair their ability to live at home safely, independently and in good healthFacilitate workshops to problem solve and identify solutions to help them meet their needsOrganize events that promote an active lifestyle and inclusiveness among seniors in the communityYouth Services Coordinator::The position of Youth Services Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience as well as supporting youth within the community that are clients and /or volunteers. Its main focus is to ensure that everyone is treated accordingly and their needs are met when visiting the facilities to receive food. The student hired will be responsible for providing help through employment information via seminars or one on one meetings, connecting clients with community assistance and providing info on settlement promoting a positive and welcoming environment.Tasks and Responsibilities:Implement life skill workshops for newcomers and Syrian refugeesConduct needs assessments, while also recognizing their relevant skills and strengthsProvide access to community resources that are tailored to meet their wants/needsEnsure that clients are served in a culturally sensitive mannerCommunity Development:The position of Outreach Coordinator with Seva Food Bank supports the local priority of a non profit organization providing a career related experience. The student that will be responsible for outreach will attend seminar sessions on communication, networking and will adopt a proactive approach. S/he will create surveys and draw conclusions while providing a strategic plan tailored for Seva Food Bank.Tasks and Responsibilities:Identify relevant community events and coordinate participation in these eventsParticipate in the intake process for new clients and provide service navigationAssist the Program Coordinator with overseeing and developing programs, organizing events, and targeted trainingOur top priority is the health and safety of all those who help provide food and those who receive it. We proactively follow the lead of Public Health authorities and the Region of Peel.Regularly disinfecting high-traffic and frequently touched surfaces (door handles, table tops, shopping carts, light switches).Regular hand washing and sanitizing. There is visible signage throughout our food banks to remind all of preventative hygiene best practices.Wear protective face coverings as highly recommended .
