Course Number and Title: STA4530HS: Derivatives for Institutional Investing

Course Description: This course explores the replication of financial derivatives from the standpoint of investment banks ("sell-side") and the application of derivatives from the standpoint of pension funds, insurers, hedge funds, mutual funds and private equity funds ("buy-side"). The course is structured in three components: (i) the construction and trading of structured derivatives, (ii) the use of derivatives by the buy side, (iii) the synthesis of (i) and (ii) into case studies.

Minimum Qualifications: Relevant background and education in the field of Mathematical Finance/Statistics. Currently active in the finance industry with at least five years' experience in finance/insurance. Prior experience teaching at the university level.

Preferred Qualification: Prior experience teaching STA4530 or a similar course an asset. Note: Applicants may be asked to supply references.

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course. Preparation, supervision and grading of assignments, tests, and final examinations in accordance with university regulations; reporting final grades; counseling students; supervising teaching assistant(s).
