Sessional Lecturer - APD2214H S 130 - Curriculum and Pedagogies for Cross-Curriculum Teaching

Duties:

1 - Teach a minimum of 36 hours;

2 - Prepare teaching resources for each class and provide relevant materials;

3 - Assess and evaluate students' work and provide a final course grade according to OISE/UT grading practices;

4 - Be available for informal meetings/communications with students as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

1 - Doctorate degree or equivalent in curriculum or related area of expertise with a focus on elementary pedagogy;

2 - Expertise in content area for Arts Education; knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Education Arts curriculum; and equity pedagogies for teaching the Arts;

3 - Expertise in teaching at University level;

4 - Experience teaching at the elementary level is essential.

Preferred Candidates will have:

1 - Experience teaching Arts education at the elementary level;

2 - Knowledge of equity pedagogy in education;

3 - Knowledge of Teacher Education; 4 - Ability to collaborate with faculty and university community members.
Course Description:

This course will provide students with an introduction to a broad range of curriculum areas important to elementary education. These areas include the Arts curriculum (music, drama, visual arts, dance), as well as the integration of these domains with other elements of the elementary curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to examine issues related to diversity as well as the application of technology within these curriculum domains. The course will discuss how to design and implement instruction in these areas that is consistent with the learning expectations in the Ontario Curriculum (early childhood, primary, and junior years).
