Course Number and Title: PHL317H1S - Marx and Marxism

Course Description: An examination of some of the leading themes in the philosophy of Karl Marx. Developments of Marxist philosophy by later thinkers, and critics of Marxism, may also be considered.

Estimated Course Enrolment: 50 students

Estimated TA Support: 60 Hours

Class Schedule: Fridays 15:00-18:00

Salary: $9457.89 Sessional Lecturer I; $9930.79 Sessional Lecturer I Long Term; $10121.77 Sessional Lecturer II; $10326.62 Sessional Lecture II Long Term; $10362.76 Sessional Lecturer III; $10570.02 Sessional Lecturer III Long Term

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in philosophy (or related); strong academic record and professional promise; ongoing research and scholarly publications in the field; relevant and recent teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants who have clearly demonstrated teaching excellence in the subject matter.

Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours and supervising teaching assistants.
