Course Number and Title: FAH2071F - Greek and Roman Art and Archaeology
Course Description: An overview of the major monuments, artifacts, themes and problems in the study of the archaeology, art and architecture of the civilizations of Greece and Rome.
Estimated Course Enrolment: 120 students
Estimated TA Support: 175 hours
Class Schedule: Monday 1-3 pm.
This course is currently designated to meet in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery mode may change as determined by the Faculty or Department.
Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023; Final Assessment period December 9-22, 2023. Please note: This position includes the completion of any course work and marking not finished by December 31, 2023.
Salary:
$9,457.50 for Sessional Lecturer I; $9,930.79 for Sessional Lecturer I - Long Term;
$10,121.76 for Sessional Lecturer II; $10,326.61 for Sessional Lecturer II - Long Term
$10,362.76 for Sessional Lecturer III; $10,570.01 for Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Art History, preferably in Greek and Roman art; if the PhD is in progress, the qualifying exam must already have been passed. Demonstrated skill in teaching, writing, and communication in the history of art are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous teaching experience and/or tutorial leadership in this or a similar course at the university level is preferred. Also preferred is experience with management and delivery of courses using University of Toronto or similar online systems (e.g., Quercus, Canvas-based technologies, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Description of Duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University-credit course, including: developing and publishing the syllabus and marking scheme through Quercus; preparing and delivering lectures and/or leading classroom discussions during the 4 contact hours each week; TA supervision (if applicable), preparing relevant assignments for student assessment, and (if applicable) setting and invigilating term tests and the final assessment; marking of student work and reporting final grades to the university; and maintaining office hours for academic counselling of students.
