Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)Description:Criticism is a practice of writing distinct from academic argumentation or artists\' writings, with a long history in periodicals, newspapers, and exhibition catalogues. The course surveys the genre to analyze key texts that have shaped the narrative of art leading to, and including, the current discourse. Students both read and write criticism in the course, experimenting with voice, rhetoric, and polemics.Class Schedule: P0101 Tuesday 09:00-12:00Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2024 - December 31, 2024Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 25 students per sectionSalary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II - $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III - $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $10,570.02 (inclusive of vacation pay)Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum Qualifications: MA, MFA (or equivalent graduate degree), or PhD (or equivalency in professional experience and terminal degree) in the field and previous lecture/seminar teaching experience.
