Course description:

An overview of the current issues facing forest conservation, management and research is presented in guest seminars and student presentations. Students will improve their writing and presentation skills as well as broaden their appreciation of forest science through written assignments and presentations. Weekly attendance at seminars and a poster presentation during the fall along with a written research proposal and seminar workshop the following spring are required. During the first fall session, the course includes select assignments in conjunction with students from the professional forest conservation program (MFC).

Salary (per half-course, inclusive of vacation):




Sessional Lecturer I: $ 9,820.70

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $ 10,510.04

Sessional Lecturer II $ 10,510.04

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $ 10,760.28

Sessional Lecturer III: $ 10,760.28

Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 11,029.28

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications

: PhD with strong knowledge of forest conservation, management and research; familiarity with the UofT Forestry graduate program and structure.

Description of duties

: Prepare and deliver lectures, organize guest speakers, maintain course notes and readings, set and mark course assignments; compile, record and submit final marks. Be available to students through regular office hours.
