Responsibilities:

SUNTEP Saskatoon requires a sessional instructor for INDG 107.3 for 2025 Fall Term. This course aims to develop critical reading, writing, and thinking skills and provide the background necessary for advanced Indigenous Studies courses. Through course lectures and seminar discussions this course presents an overview of Aboriginal societies across Saskatchewan and Canada by linking processes of the past with contemporary issues. Students will be exposed to examples that demonstrate historical continuity between pre-contact and contemporary societies while highlighting the resistance and resiliency of Indigenous peoples in the face of ongoing colonizing practices. Through these examples, discussion, lectures and other course materials, students are introduced to Indigenous ways of knowing and gain greater understanding of Indigenous issues

in Canada. The general topics of this course include origin belief systems, kinship, community, land relations, colonization, resistance, identity and allyship all from an Indigenous perspective, while acknowledging western practices and understandings.

The assignment would involve planning, preparation and delivery of appropriate course instruction to students. Manage classroom activities to ensure an optimum learning environment for students. Assess student performance and provide consistent feedback. Awareness and implementation of culturally responsive approaches is an asset.


Qualifications:

The candidate must possess a master's degree and/or equivalent combination of training and experience in the content area and be approved by the University of Saskatchewan. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and the ability to work with Indigenous student populations are an asset.
