This is a first-year university preparatory class (non-credit) which runs concurrently with English 114 (41) at the University of Saskatchewan (main campus). The transition to university can be a daunting one for many students. The successful applicant must be able to adapt to the students' needs in an ever-changing classroom setting, depending on which assignments students are currently working on. Improving students' reading skills is key to this course. Thirdly, the instructor should be adept at helping students with University of Saskatchewan library research for their upcoming essays and must be familiar with MLA, APA, and CMS formatting. The instructor will need to show students how to set up essays using the proper formatting including documentation. Finally, the instructor should be willing to deal with any other concerns about time management, phone management, working with the SUNTEP writing tutor, etc. that will help students be successful at the university level. Take-home work is not assigned for this course. All work must be completed with the class itself. The assignment would involve planning, preparation and delivery of appropriate course instruction to students.
