The Exercise Science Program in the School of Allied Health, Centre for Health and Wellness, is seeking a student-focused instructor to teach EXS 2260 - Biomechanics & Applied Kinesiology. This course introduces students in a two-year college diploma program to the principles of biomechanics and their application to human movement analysis. Instruction takes place in a high-performance classroom designed for exercise training and active learning.
This is a sessional position for the Winter 2026 term. It's a great opportunity for educators passionate about movement science to contribute to a growing program that values hands-on learning and small class sizes.
Position Details
Responsibilities include delivering weekly lecture-based instruction (3 hours/week) in EXS 2260, encouraging active learning through demonstrations, group work, and movement-based activities, using Canvas as the learning management system, supporting student learning through clear communication and timely feedback, participating in course maintenance and minor updates as needed, and collaborating with Exercise Science faculty and staff. Opportunities to contribute to curriculum enhancement are available but not required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or a related field
Demonstrated expertise in human movement analysis, kinematics, and kinetics
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience teaching at a post-secondary institution is preferred
Familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Education, or a related field
Experience teaching biomechanics or kinesiology in a college or university setting
Experience with movement analysis tools (e.g., video analysis, force plates, EMG), with interest in integrating these into future curriculum development
Interest in contributing to curriculum innovation and enhancement
Commitment to inclusive and experiential teaching practices
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the current Lethbridge Polytechnic Faculty Association Collective Agreement.
