Job Overview


We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Service Writer/Advisor and parts person to join our automotive service team to cover for staff going to trade school. This position could become permanent for the right candidate. This pivotal role involves acting as the primary liaison between customers and our service technicians, ensuring clear communication, accurate documentation, and efficient service delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong automotive background, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Prior shop experience and automotiveparts knowledge are highly desirable to excel in this position.

Duties



Greet customers promptly and professionally, establishing a positive rapport for their vehicle service experience Accurately document customer concerns, vehicle symptoms, and service requests using dealership management software Prepare detailed repair orders and estimates, including auto estimating for various repairs such as oil changes, brake repair, transmissions, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, alignments, and auto body repairs Communicate effectively with technicians regarding vehicle diagnostics and repair procedures Upsell additional services or repairs that enhance vehicle safety and performance while maintaining integrity and customer trust Manage vehicle check-in and check-out processes efficiently, including cash handling when necessary Provide exceptional customer service by explaining repairs clearly and answering questions about vehicle maintenance needs Coordinate with parts department for availability of parts needed for repairs Follow up with customers post-service to ensure satisfaction and foster ongoing relationships source and order parts

Skills



Proven shop experience with a strong understanding of automotive service management Extensive knowledge of automotive parts, mechanical systems, and vehicle maintenance procedures Experience with auto estimating software, service writing processes, and part ordering and warehousing Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining high ethical standards Familiarity with various automotive systems including transmissions, oil changes, auto body repair, air brakes, alignments, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, brake systems Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients of varying knowledge levels Mechanical knowledge combined with experience as a service technician or mechanic is highly advantageous Sales experience related to automobile sales or parts is a plus Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and communication tasks Offroading expieriance an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 2 months

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
