Job Description

SMS Equipment is hiring a Service Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of our service team in Wabush.



In this role, you'll help ensure everything runs safely, efficiently, and on schedule. Working on a 7x7 or 14x14 shift rotation, you'll oversee maintenance and repairs on Komatsu and other equipment, ensuring tasks are completed to high standards and resources are used effectively. With an annual salary of

$133,250, plus applicable premiums

and eligibility for a short-term

incentive plan

, you'll lead by example--assigning tasks, supporting skilled tradespeople, and providing hands-on guidance with repair procedures when needed.

Your Role





As a Service Supervisor, you will play a vital role in leading safe, efficient, and high-quality service operations. Your key responsibilities include:


Oversee maintenance and repairs on Komatsu and other OEM equipment, ensuring quality and timely completion. Assign work, coordinate scheduling, and manage resources across shop operations to maximize efficiency. Guide and support tradespeople with repair procedures, technical challenges, and daily tasks. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture by delivering training, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Prepare and review service quotes, work orders, and technical documentation to support smooth operations. Collaborate with field dispatch and the Service Manager to prioritize service tasks and manage customer communications effectively. Coordinate with welders, subcontractors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflows and timely project completion. Support employee growth and development through coaching, performance evaluations, and ongoing feedback. Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives, including safety programs and operational process enhancements

What You Bring




Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and supervision Strong technical knowledge of Komatsu and other OEM equipment Proven leadership skills in an industrial setting Sound understanding of OH&S acts, safety standards, and inspection practices Organized, proactive, and able to work independently Bilingual in English and French is an asset
