The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Communications & Technology Services Bureau Commander are seeking a qualified individual to join our Service Desk Management Unit. In this exciting, rewarding and challenging opportunity, you will provide first point of contact for technical incident reporting, technical support, diagnostics and problem resolution as part of the services provided by the OPP Service Desk (OPPSD) in support of applications, hardware, software and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) security for the OPP and other Ontario Law Enforcement Agencies within the standard operating policies, procedures and practices of the OPP and the broader OPS.
Note: This posting is for a permanent opportunity with the OPP. The results of this competition will be used to fill current and future temporary and permanent opportunities with qualified eligible candidate within the unit during the next 12 months following the competition closing.
This is an operational position requiring a high level of engagement with members and stakeholders. The successful applicant will be required to report to their assigned OPP worksite to perform their duties in accordance with Ontario Public Service workplace policies.

Ability to pass an OPP background/ security investigation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of computer service desk environment including PC and mobile phone support utilizing standard ministry software (Microsoft 365 applications), current operating systems, applications, and tools (i.e. eSMT, ICE, Softphones, Microsoft Azure, Adobe, PowerShell, AD) in support of customers.
Customer service orientation/customer focused communication skills.
Interpersonal skills to work co-operatively and collaboratively within the team/work group and actively participate in team activities, projects and client initiatives to achieve group and organizational goals.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Written communication skills to convey and document end users issues, processes and results in appropriate databases, and to create and amend training and resource materials.
Listening skills to receive and send information by actively listening and asking questions to seek comprehension and understanding of user issues to determine problems.
Ability to decide when to escalate a problem or issue to a more senior level for matters not covered by established procedures or guidelines, or where conflicting priorities and VIP requirements are present.
