It\xe2\x80\x99s time to get ready for the busy season! The Berry Barn is looking for dynamic, service-oriented Servers to join their team. In the Server role, it is expected that all Berry Barn staff will treat everyone with whom she/he interacts with respect and dignity. Your safety is the highest priority at the Berry Barn. The Server is very energetic, friendly and loves to take care of the customer and fellow employees. The Server is detailed oriented with an ability to multitask in a calm and collected manner. The server is able to create memorable experiences for guests ensuring their return. The Server will report to the Dining Room Manager. Servers should anticipate the busy periods and be ready to meet the demands of a hectic restaurant. Servers will use slower times to accomplish tasks relating to extra or deep cleaning, stocking and performing other preparatory work. The Server will check with a manager for any additional side work needing to be completed. Key Responsibilities:
  • Always speak in a measured and pleasant manner and greet every employee and guest of the Berry Barn with a smile.
  • Strictly adhere to all safety policies and immediately report any near misses, slip/trips/falls, accidents or injuries to your supervisor.
  • Prep sections and ready for service.
  • Guides each guest through daily specials and menu items, offering suggestions that cater to the guests\' needs or desires.
  • Be extremely diligent and ensure that each order sent to the kitchen takes into account any dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Pace each order and keep lines of communication open with the kitchen staff or expediter.
  • \xe2\x80\x9cRead\xe2\x80\x9d each table and guest to anticipate their needs.
  • Perform table maintenance by clearing courses as necessary; replacing utensils; ensuring water glasses stay full; be present and aware in order to assist with any spills or special requests.
  • Deliver cheque and process payment in a timely manner, thank each guest and ask that they return.
  • Participate in sunning side work throughout the shift, running food or drinks, assisting in pre-bussing tables, sweeping floors and helping teammates.
  • Notify Manager if system issues arise for the repair of equipment as needed.
  • Assists the Dining Room Manager in organizing for upcoming shifts and shift changes.
  • Be receptive to learning new tasks within the Dining Room operations.
  • Ensure all food is stored and handled to Food Safe Standards.
  • Ensure dining room area, server stations and the line are kept clean and in excellent working condition.
  • Follow safety training in regard to proper lifting, carrying and moving of materials.
Key Qualifications:
  • Must be Food Safe Certified.
  • Prefer a minimum of 1-year restaurant experience.
  • Working knowledge of various POS systems.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptive and able to work in a dynamic work environment in a variety of roles.
  • Excited to work with the team and assist other associates whenever possible or needed.
  • Enthusiastic, creative team member, able and excited to participate in the Berry Barn community life.
  • This position is physically demanding. Able to meet the physical demands of the job. Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, squat, stand for extended periods of time and frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
