You like making people smile, have a welcoming nature and like a fast paced work environment. Serving is in your blood and seeing people eat a good meal makes you happy. As aServer you will:
  • Be a Friendly Face - arriving at work on time to get the restaurant/lounge/caf\xc3\xa9/room service/ or other food/beverage service area set up and ready to open, keeping the area clean and attractive throughout the day. As the outlet you work in closes, all cleaning duties - floors, tables, buffet as well as sidework duties. - are also part of your role.
  • Be a Host as well as a Server - pouring water, upselling food & beverage, making helpful suggestions, answering questions, remembering names or favorite choices, offering a friendly smile - and maybe even a weather forecast or a local attraction suggestion - is all part of the job.
  • Be a Food & Beverage Professional - understand the food and beverage you are serving so you know what you are speaking about; offer prompt, excellent service to create a wonderful experience for the guest; handle cash/credit accurately and timely.
  • Be a Safety & Security Agent - follow your hotel\'s established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed.
Requirements: Position Summary: The Restaurant Server\'s primary function is to provide friendly, efficient service of food and beverages requested by guests and collect payment for such items. Accountabilities: This role is responsible for pre-setting the restaurant, serving the meal courses, maintaining any side work stations, clearing all tables during and after each meal, and storing equipment at the end of each shift in its proper place. Must be able to courteously handle all guest requests and be available to work a flexible schedule. The Restaurant Server is responsible for making guests feel welcome, comfortable and well attended to at all time. Education & Experience:
  • At least 1 year of progressive experience food & beverage
  • ServSafe & TIPS Certificate preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Other Abilities, Skills, Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of F&B procedures, serving standards,Health Department rules and regulations as well asLiquor laws and regulations
  • Bartending skills a plus
  • Oral and Written Comprehension and Expression - Must be able to convey & understand information and ideas in English
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary

Physical Requirements:
  • Long hours sometimes required

Duties & Functions
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner
  • Maintain regular attendance as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
  • Comply at all times with hotel standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Prepare tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware
  • Perform food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee
  • Complete all sidework and cleaning duties as described in the standard operation procedures
  • Have full knowledge of entire menu, as well as daily specials, desserts, etc
  • Greet guests, inform of daily specials
  • Present menus to guests and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • Describe and recommend wines to customers
  • Bring wine selections to tables with appropriate glasses, and pour the wines for customers
  • Write guest food orders on order slips, memorize orders, and enter into computer for transmittal for kitchen staff
  • Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems
  • Serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes
  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and take them to kitchen for cleaning
  • Prepare hot, cold, and mixed drinks for patrons, and chill bottles of wine
  • Respond to guest complaints in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with all local liquor laws, and health & sanitation regulations
  • Ensure that all side work is completed before leaving property
  • Ensure that all restocking and cleaning is performed at close of shift
  • Be up to date on all guest services, promotions and events in the Hotel
  • Accurately complete daily cash out report
