We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Serbian-speaking Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide exceptional care to clients in a home or community setting. The ideal candidate will assist individuals with daily living activities, monitor health and safety, and support their overall well-being. This role requires strong communication skills in Serbian, a caring attitude, and experience in various aspects of senior and disability care. The PSW will work closely with clients, families, and healthcare teams to deliver personalized care that promotes independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
Provide patient observation and monitor vital signs to ensure safety and health status
Support medication administration and manage care plans in accordance with healthcare directives
Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal planning and cooking
Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and assist with transfers safely
Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
Document patient progress, observations, and any changes in condition following HIPAA guidelines
Assist with specialized care such as Alzheimer's, dementia, memory care, autism support, hospice care, or palliative needs
Support residents with social activities to promote mental well-being and engagement
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to care plans
Qualifications
Proven experience in assisted living, home health, long-term care, or nursing home environments
Knowledge of patient monitoring, vital signs, medication administration, and first aid certification (CPR preferred)
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory impairments
Ability to lift heavy loads safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts required
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality
Excellent communication skills in Serbian; proficiency in English is an asset
Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve clients' quality of life
Valid certifications in CPR and First Aid; background check required prior to employment
Experience working with care plans, social work principles, or hospice is advantageous
