Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Seniors Resource Coordinator(SSGL) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating support services for seniors (65+) to assist individuals to maintain their independent living status, in a group living setting. Under the direction of the Board of Directors the SSGL is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementation, evaluation and administration of the program's policies and procedures pertinent to the organizations goals and objectives. The incumbent will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgement in determining work priorities and work methods.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following support for older adults:
• Completion of forms/documents
• Schedule and arrange driver escort/transportation
• Friendly visit/daily check in
• Assist with light housekeeping
• Schedule and arrange shopping /errands
• Supply referrals for yard/home maintenance
• Lifeline Installation and support
• Referrals for mobility aids
• Educational Events
• Health/Physical/Exercise activities
• Organize social opportunities that are relevant to older adults in the community (City of Selkirk, RM of St Andrews, RM of St Cements)
• Advice of personal safety and security plans
• Distribute E.R.I.K kits in the community
• Be familiar with health services and organizations that support healthy ageing and encourage the use of these and other community programs
• Be familiar with financial assistance programs for older adults and encourage the use of these services
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the program
• Manage budgets effectively, ensuring resources are allocated appropriately .
• Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and community resources to ensure comprehensive support for residents.
• Facilitate communication between clients, staff, and volunteers
Qualifications
Minimum grade 12 education or GED
• Health Care Aide certificate preferred
• Two or more years experience working with older adults
• Strong interpersonal skills, with particular emphasis on developing and maintaining a good rapport with older adults
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with the public
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with clients and their families.
• Knowledge of gerontology
• Ability to work both collaboratively within a team-oriented environment and independently
• Able to work within a budget
