The result is a work and community experience you won\'t find anywhere else.Reporting to the Mine Manager, the Senior Water Management Engineer provides technical expertise to the operation and project across all water management functions. The Engineer leads water management activities and ensures compliance to regulation as part of the overall Environmental Management System.Main AccountabilitiesProvide leadership in the water management program in order for the Company to achieve its environmental and commercial objectives and sustain its social license to operate.
Oversees the development of practical and realistic water management plans (daily, weekly, monthly, annual and 5-year) including: setting objectives, defining a series of tasks, estimating budgets and schedules to maintain and improve site water management activities.
Plans and manages the review, update, and implementation of the site wide water balance, water quality models, OMS Manuals, Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Oversees consultant efforts related to water management, site wide water balance and water quality modeling to ensure all efforts are cost effective and aligned toward common objectives. Review and provide input to consultant\xe2\x80\x99s work to ensure it is fit-for-purpose.
Manages projects and supervises contractors in the field to execute work on-time and on-budget (e.g. installation of monitoring wells and instrumentation).
Conducts field inspections of site infrastructure to ensure it is geotechnically stable and working as planned.
Conducts quality assurance / quality control of activities related to water management.
Works with site management in support of risk assessment, risk management and change-management initiatives to identify new or evolving hazards and prioritize the implementation of countermeasures related to water management.
Provides technical support for water management to the execution teams.
Notifies of any non-conformities and assists in incident investigation and the development of appropriate correctives actions.Main QualificationsBachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering or related program, Hydrology or Hydrogeology is considered an assetRegistered professional or eligible for registration with Northwest Territories and Nunavut Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (NAPEG).Minimum five (5) years of experience in water management technical services and / or operations specific to the mining or construction industries.Experience in the development or implementation of water management programs is an asset.Arctic experience is an asset.Knowledge of dam operating, monitoring and surveillance requirements and best practices related to the mining industry.Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, standards and effective industry practices is an asset.
Knowledge of the Mining Association of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) protocols and framework is an asset.Adaptability / Flexibility skills: Ability to adapt to changes, learn new skills, and take on new challenges.Communication skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both written and verbal, for conveying ideas, instructions, and information to colleagues, external parties, and superiors.Results / Quality Orientation skills: Sets high but achievable standards for self and others.
