The Upstream Planning team is accountable for the company\xe2\x80\x99s Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting as it relates to the financial and operational performance of the Upstream portfolio. We act as strategic partners to help the business deliver their annual business plan, inform investment decisions and advance key priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Upstream Planning, the Senior Analyst Upstream Planning will provide analytical support across the Oil Sands portfolio, which includes Foster Creek, Christina Lake, Sunrise, the Lloydminster thermal and Conventional Heavy Oil assets.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the monthly forecasting process and coordinate monthly meetings to review operating expense and/or capital performance with the business.

  • Support business teams to develop the 5-year business plan in accordance with corporate objectives and planning guidance.

  • Understand risks and opportunities related to the 5-year business plan.

  • Support building out the 5-year business plan in PlanningSpace and ensure consistency and accuracy of data.

  • Assist with preparation of materials (memos, presentations) for the Cenovus Leadership Team and Board of Directors on the budget and 5-year business plan.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis to support strategy sessions, budget and 5-year business plan. Examples might include cost performance, project lookbacks and sustaining capital trends.

  • Support teams in accurately categorizing capital spending in the annual budget according to our definitions, assist with the capital governance process and Project Approval Requests (PARs).

  • Partner with other members of Corporate Planning, Accounting, Reserves, Investor Relations, Operations, Asset Development and Major Projects as required.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes.

  • Build business acumen skills/capabilities across the business.


Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in oil & gas with financial, accounting, production, asset development, major projects or operations knowledge.

  • Completed university degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field.

  • Able to work on a high performing team with competing responsibilities and deadlines.

  • Highly organized, adaptive and flexible to deliver time sensitive material.

  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.

  • Actively engage and influence multi-disciplinary teams, including senior leaders, and drive change through continuous improvement.

  • Prior experience with PlanningSpace and/or SAP would be considered an asset.
