There is a position available for a Senior Technician Local Area Network Specialist in the Technology Department with School District No. 60. All applications must be completed online and will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the postion is filled.
Position Description: Reporting to the District Vice-Principal of Innovation and Technology and the IT Manager, this position is responsible for training and mentoring new LAN (Local Area Network) specialist positions. This position is also responsible for the repair and maintenance of School District 60\'s LAN equipment and infrastructure.
Hours of work: Eight (8) hrs. per day, five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: As soon as possible after closing
Work Year Base: Twelve (12) months per year
Commencing Salary: $36.81/hr.
Duties: Administer and provide support for the District\'s Local Area Network.
Maintain and support Mobile Device Management and deployment.
Knowledge of use and installation of Audio/Video equipment.
Administer, manage, and troubleshoot cloud based services.
Provide input into future planning and expansion of network hardware and software.
Install, configure, and troubleshoot existing server, workstation, and network printers.
Stay abreast of new technology in related fields.
Maintain and support mission critical servers and IT services.
Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of (UPS), Uninterruptible Power Supply.
Train and mentor new LAN specialist positions.
Organize and assist in helping with technology to District employees.
Install and troubleshoot Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telecom systems.
Provide support for in house applications and services, both cloud based and localized.
Recover data under extreme circumstances on mission critical District servers.
Under the supervision of the IT Manager, organize priorities and schedules and give direction to LAN personnel.
Provide help desk services and training.
Test and evaluate new and existing hardware, software, and Network infrastructure.
Ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.
Follows proper safety rules and standards by ensuring the worksite is safe and secure, that equipment and vehicles are operated according to set standards.
Ensure the safe handling of hazardous materials (WHMIS) and the safe use and operation of equipment and hand tools.
Perform other job related duties as directed by the IT Manager.
Qualifications and Attributes: Grade 12 or equivalency
A two-year Computer related diploma from a recognized technical school or equivalency.
An industry standard recognized IT support designation.
Minimum 5 years experience in LAN repair and troubleshooting.
Experience with Mobile Device Management and deployment
Knowledge of Audio/Video Equipment use and Installation
Valid Class 5 driver\'s license with acceptable driver\'s abstract
Ability to work independently and set priorities
W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
