Our Farecard Team is seeking a Senior Technical Analyst to join their team!

What You Will Do

As Senior Technical Analysis, you will manage and provide technical support fare payment equipment, technology, operating platforms, safety and performance standards including, but not limited to: card readers; vending machines; hand-held inspection and fare payment devices; stationary point of sale devices; web based and mobile fare payment software applications; and back-end fare payment and sales processing applications and systems. This involves analyzing, planning, designing, and implementing hardware and software infrastructure, establishing standard hardware and software installation and configuration processes, system performance monitoring and capacity planning, and managing and co ordinating hardware and software system upgrades. The incumbent identifies and documents technical problems, devises solutions, and provides technical direction to staff who support and maintain various fare payment equipment to meet the required service and performance levels. Act as Project Lead on large sub-projects and initiatives to expand and improve the system.


Establish and maintain operating systems hardware and software standards by assuring that production equipment satisfies the required safety, environmental, financial, and technical standards. Develops and revises hardware and software installation, configuration, and operating procedures documentation and assures the latest hardware revision, life-cycle hardware replacement program, the latest operating systems version provided by vendors is maintained, and patches and fixes for all software are applied. Ensures the technical infrastructure can support business applications by: identifying system requirements; integrating applications into the existing technical environment; participating in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing; providing infrastructure planning to support the application and system expansion requirements; and providing technical lead during the implementation of technical changes; participating in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing. Assist in managing the day-to-day operations by coordinating, prioritizing, and scheduling access to vehicles and facilities for maintenance contractors to perform assessment, root cause analysis, and repair of fare payment equipment; and developing and operationalizing sophisticated monitoring, reporting, and business intelligence tools for performance, trend analysis and forecasting. Plan, supervise and direct work to ensure the technical team acquires sustainable knowledge, skills and technical competencies and that the goals and objectives of the section are achieved. Manages enterprise operating platforms including, but not limited to, Linux, Storage and Virtualization, IBM-z/VM, IBM-VSE/ESA, MS-Windows, Novell-NetWare, and HP-UNIX. This position provides technical direction to staff who support and maintain the server environment (Itanium, S/390, Intel and RISC based) that meets all established Service Level Agreements. In addition, this position assists to perform various administration duties including providing input to the capital and operating budgets.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

Completion of a post-secondary college diploma or university degree in a relevant discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
Several years of experience working progressively in systems programming and technical support in a major corporate environment;

Certification and designation in a related discipline, such as CET, MCSE, MCSA, VCP and ASE, or equivalent is required.
In-depth understanding and practical experience related to the design, implementation and maintenance of fare payment hardware, software, and back-end financial processing systems. In-depth knowledge and understanding of performance monitoring and data reporting tools, mobile and enterprise operating systems platforms (mobile device/server hardware, operating systems software, networking protocols, systems utilities, systems interfaces, application packages, programming languages, performance tuning, and data or database-related tools). In-depth understanding and practical experience related to equipment safety, performance, financial, and operating standards and certification requirements. Technical project management experience and ability to supervise and provide technical direction to staff. Background in technical documentation, proposal writing, cost/benefit analysis, and quality review procedures. Track record of successfully implementing technical solutions for business applications, and working under high service demands and time constraints. Sound judgment; strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities; well-developed communication and interpersonal and presentation skills.
