Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full cycle of accounting for small to medium-sized, owner-managed, profit-oriented, and not-for-profit clients.
- Prepare and assess compilation, review, and audit engagements in adherence to Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO).
- Conduct technical accounting research, offering precise and practical recommendations to clients.
- Prepare financial statements, adjusting journal entries, and perform account reconciliations.
- Serve as the primary liaison for client inquiries, delivering clear and professional communication.
- Mentor junior staff and review their work to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage multiple assignments effectively within a fast-paced environment to meet established deadlines.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to team meetings, share knowledge, and support the success of fellow team members.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping records and adhere to high professional and ethical standards.
Requirements:
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Completion or enrollment in the In-Depth Taxation Program is preferred.
- A minimum of seven years of full cycle accounting experience within a public accounting firm, preferably with small to medium-sized, owner-managed, profit-oriented clientele.
- Proficient knowledge and experience with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and Canadian Accounting Standards for Not-For-Profit Organizations (ASNPO), as well as related technical literature.
- Extensive experience in preparing compilation and assurance engagements.
- Demonstrated technical accounting skills and research capabilities.
- An aptitude for effectively communicating accounting principles and exercising critical thinking when addressing client inquiries.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the capability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Initiative, sound judgment, a positive work ethic, and a desire to pursue new learning opportunities are essential.
- Ability to navigate projects from initiation to completion, with competence in both independent and team-oriented work.
- An enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment and adapting to change.
