Senior systems/Network Engineer

Permanent Position

Location: GTA, North of Toronto

Our client is seeking a senior technology expert with network and systems administration and second to third level Help Desk/PC Technician experience to witness the infrastructure build and serve by supporting the I.T infrastructure in place, inform strategy and support a growing team.

Approximately a third of role will be client service desk support; another third will be department policy and procedure set up, technical documentation and training, and integration of systems and the last third will be server and network administration.

Responsibilities: * Be onsite to witness the infrastructure build and learn from the work of the consulting firm.

• At this time there will be onsite and remote work depending on your tasks and the organizations needs.
• Learn about all of the technologies, information systems and applications housed at the hospital
• Provide advice/consultation on new applications or information systems, hardware or peripherals
• Develop issue resolution process and customer service standards and I.T policies with support from management team.
• You will be instrumental in informing best practices for all areas of IT and Technical Support and Ticket Handling procedures.
• Answers various user inquiries, concerns and issues and ensures they are resolved in a timely fashion.
• Ensure that the network and systems are maintained, and the performance and security and integrity of the systems, applications and network is optimized for current requirements and aligned to organizational goals.
• Implement and integrate new applications or software or technologies working with our vendors.
• Working with vendors existing staff may require training in the applications or information systems
• Technical analysis, technical support, and end user training
• Works to develop standard work practices policies and procedures.
• Responsible for on and off boarding corporate users
• Project execution that will range from simple research and implementation to the complex handling of project schedules, management, and task execution. Projects may entail software, hardware, or a combination of the two
• Performs software updates and assists with the implementation of new organization software and hardware to align with the needs of the organization.
• Responsible for day-to-day activities including system back-up, upgrades and running scheduled maintenance.
• Operation, performance, and maintenance of various IT related equipment (servers, networked switches/routers/firewalls, mobile devices, etc.)
• Software updates and implementation of organization software and hardware to align with the needs of the organization
• Anticipate IT capacity needs to ensure that performance, availability, and reliability are not compromised.
• Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models
• Build an internal technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
• Determine and Evaluate network security through risk assessment

EDUCATION: * BSc in Computer Science, Information Science, or Information Technology OR relevant work experience.

• Minimum 5 years equivalent work experience in a similar role
• Microsoft MCSA, MCSE, or MCITP or current equivalent certified is an asset
• ITIL Certification is an asset
• Citrix Certification is an asset
• VMware Certification is an asset

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: * Healthcare IT experience is highly desired but not required.
