ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Wind River has an excellent opportunity for a Senior System Administrator.

This position will answer the Service Desk phone as well as manage desktop-related support issues; interfaces with end-users and assists the IT organization in troubleshooting of server and network components. This position will allow for participation in global support and projects, providing an opportunity for the individual to work with colleagues from around the world.

Working in an open, transparent spirit, where partnership & trust are embedded in our culture and critical to success within our entire organization, the Senior System Administrator will report directly to the Senior IT Manager. You will be an integral part of the IT team collaborating with all internal clients from all functions in Wind River to provide IT support.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in global projects and initiatives - working along side other IT client service team members as well as with IT Operations and IT Security.
  • Provide help desk support.
  • Responsible for monitoring backups, network connectivity and overall server maintenance and documentation.
  • Provide technical support for local and remote users on Windows and various Linux platforms (e.g. Cent OS, Ubuntu).
  • Work with colleagues, vendors, and manufacturers to maintain up to date support and systems versions.
  • Provides technical support to internal desktop systems.
  • Installs, configures, and troubleshoots desktop systems, workstations, and servers in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Maintains password security, data integrity, and file system security for the desktop environment.
  • Communicates highly technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Work with colleagues to recommend hardware and software solutions, including new acquisitions and upgrades.
  • May conduct training programs designed to educate an organization\'s computer users about basic and specialized applications.
  • Onsite presence will be required.

Core Competencies & Demonstrated Success
  • By coordinating, diagnosing, and troubleshooting incoming employee calls, provides support services to employees with technical problems and information technology issues involving desktop, laptop, or network services from local personnel or from employees using network remote access.
  • Responsible for timely resolution of problems or escalation on behalf of customer to appropriate technical personnel.
  • Supports and maintains effective relationships with users.
  • Participates in developing, documents, and implements standard operating procedures and customer service guidelines relating to remote IT support.
  • Must have solid technical skills, the ability to perform several tasks simultaneously, and good communications skills. The individual must have learning agility to adapt to a changing environment and be interested in growing into new responsibilities.
  • Experience in system administration is required.
Qualifications
  • Individual must be capable of supporting a large number of employees with desktop support to include troubleshooting, repair and/or configurations on workstations and peripherals.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining a VMware Esxi environment.
  • Experience in negotiating and maintaining contracts with end vendors.
  • Knowledge of Windows 11, Win 10, desktop applications (e.g. MS Office, McAfee), PC & printer hardware repair, Microsoft certifications, A+ Certified, software, operating systems, network systems, LAN/WAN, Windows Server 2008 +, telephone system installation and maintenance, customer service is required.
  • Solid Linux Knowledge is preferred.
  • Collaborates well with colleagues and business associates.
  • Individual must proactively support policies, processes, and practices.
  • 4-7 years of experience in system administration, network management and user support.
  • Must be able to work autonomously.
  • University degree level, MCSE, or equivalent by experience.
