The Opportunity


Our Sustainability team, based in Calgary, are looking for a Senior Sustainability Consultant to join their team. Dedicated to the delivery of complex Sustainability projects, the Senior Sustainability Consultant will be a key figure, as a subject matter expert in aspects including; administering LEED Certification services, sustainable design consulting Living Building Challenge and WELL building standards. Responsibilities:

  • Receive and execute instructions from the Principal in charge and be responsible and accountable for completing the assigned projects with required level of quality, on schedule and on budget
  • Lead, supervise, organize and effectively use the production level staff to complete the assigned projects
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to staff with lower levels of responsibility and lesser qualifications or experience
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Sustainability or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience is required
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in administering LEED certification services and providing sustainable design consulting services
  • Solid holistic understanding of global sustainability issues in our society at large as well as current best practices in sustainable building and community design
  • Solid understanding of resources and energy fundamentals, greenhouse gas emissions, ecology, economy, passive building design principles and active building systems
  • Experience in leading a team of 2 or more staff, ideally in LEED services or in a building design related industry is desired
  • Further certification in other related fields is desirable (i.e. PMP, BEA) is beneficial
  • Proficiency in using the latest version of relevant Building Codes, ASHRAE Standards and NECB and the Calgary building by-laws is beneficial
  • Basic operating knowledge of lifecycle assessment (LCA) software (i.e. Athena Impact Estimator, OneClick LCA), and/or clean energy management software is beneficial.
