About the role

The Senior Supplier Engineer will focus on value improvement projects, new product introduction, & sustaining projects. This includes managing suppliers for BSC products across all divisions (with an initial focus on Access Solutions products). The daily work involves being part of the new product introduction (NPI) core team, leading manufacturing deliverables alongside suppliers, and supporting sustaining projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Works with suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished good manufacturing processes,
  • Acts as technical expert to ensure reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.
  • Actively engages with Global Sourcing category teams to establish and execute category objectives.
  • Investigates and evaluates new and existing technologies for use in future products or improve quality/reliability of current product.
  • Proactively conducts risk assessment on sourced materials and builds.
  • Plans and executes service risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component sourcing to BSC manufacturing.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and category team members to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.
  • Works with R&D to research, develop, design, and evaluate materials for use in medical device applications.
  • Partners with adjacent teams to kickstart and lead continuous improvement projects.
  • Serves as a liaison between function and core team; compiles experimental results and communicates them to core team
  • Identifies and executes material cost reduction projects to meet operational goals.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to quality policies and procedures
  • Other duties as required.
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience supporting material qualification.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time internationally.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the medical devices industry is considered a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated engineering experience in a similarly regulated industry (e.g., life sciences, automotive, pharmaceutical, aerospace, etc.)
  • Previous experience working with suppliers
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines promptly with great attention to detail
  • Knowledge of BSC products and processes
