Our client is seeking a Senior Specialized IT Consultant
Key Deliverables for Client Role:
Product Requirements & Delivery: Lead the end-to-end process of gathering, analyzing, and documenting business and clinical requirements. Translate these into actionable product features and workflows, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and healthcare standards.
Prioritization & Strategy: Develop business cases, conduct feasibility studies, and perform cost-benefit analyses to support strategic decision-making. Prioritize initiatives based on impact, readiness, and alignment with provincial digital health goals.
Collaboration & Engagement: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with clinical, business, and technical teams. Engage partners to define and implement terminology standards (e.g., SNOMED CT, LOINC, HL7 FHIR), and support adoption across healthcare systems.
Process Optimization: Map and improve operational workflows, ensuring scalable and efficient implementation of digital health solutions. Identify and mitigate risks related to implementation and adoption.
Technical Expertise: Apply deep knowledge of healthcare information systems and terminology asset management tools (e.g., Apelon DTS, Ontoserver). Support provincial strategy development and interoperability initiatives.
Communication & Documentation: Prepare clear documentation, presentations, and briefing notes. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
Must Haves:
Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience in mapping and implementing clinical terminologies such as Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED-CT) and Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC)
Minimum 10 years' Extensive knowledge and understanding of digital exchange standards such as FHIR, clinical terminologies (e.g., SNOMED-CT, LOINC) and their application within Ontario Health with applicable terminology tools (e.g., Ontoserver)
Minimum 10 years' Clinical experience within Canada in acute care, primary care and/or community care settings
Minimum 10 years' Extensive knowledge and understanding of pan-Canadian digital exchange standards and tooling
Hands-on experience implementing terminology services and solutions
