Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications, the Senior Specialist will support internal and external communications for Sun Life Canada\xe2\x80\x99s group businesses. You will play a key role supporting employee communications (email updates, town halls, intranet articles, Workplace by Facebook posts). You will be instrumental in developing social media content including LinkedIn posts and thought leadership pieces. You will also support both proactive and reactive media opportunities.

What will you do?
Collaborate with the Manager to develop and execute external and internal communications strategies for Sun Life Canada\xe2\x80\x99s group businesses, with a focus on
Draft and implement integrated communications plans supporting internal and external business initiatives
Construct internal employee communications including intranet articles, e-mails, Workplace by Facebook posts and presentations
Draft and co-ordinate communications tactics and logistics for internal events including employee town halls
Identify key media opportunities and generate proactive and timely pitches
Assist in media content creation including media briefs and news releases
Develop social media content including LinkedIn posts and thought leadership pieces
Ensure smooth execution of communications tactics including managing deadlines and approvals, translation, publishing, tracking results and effectiveness
Monitor analytics, create reports and provide insights to measure success
What do you need to succeed?
Exceptional written communications skills including drafting, editing, and proofreading. Attention to detail is a must!
Open to trying new, visual and creative tactics and methods to engage audiences
Understand the needs of different media outlets (print, trade, social, broadcast,) and social media channels
Ability to pitch media, write for external audiences and coordinate media opportunities
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build relationships with media and internal stakeholders
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and deliver measurable results
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
Capable of simplifying complex ideas and information into digestible, easy-to-understand content
Requirements
3-5 years in a corporate communications or media relations role with internal communications experience
Post-secondary education in related field (communications, journalism, public relations)
Proven track record in communications with an understanding of internal and external communications
Assets
Bilingualism (English/French)
Financial Services experience
Understanding of Cision Monitoring Services
Knowledge of Workplace by Facebook and email distribution tools

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
