Job Description



We are looking for a talented Software Engineer with a background in Data, Dev, and MLOps (preferably with experience in Microsoft Azure). The Software Engineering team at OMERS helps build and operate data platforms for the Enterprise, and works closely with our counterparts in Data Engineering, Data Science, and Integrations. This is an exciting opportunity to provide thought leadership on the Data, Dev & MLOps framework, write production ready code, and to go hands-on with our cloud-native tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Support Agile Software Delivery, CI/CD Pipelines, Container Management, Automation, Orchestration & Monitoring for new and existing enterprise software & ML/AI products
  • Primary solution architect for E2E ML solutions with collaboration from data science, infrastructure, and engineering teams
  • Develop and own internal tooling to improve process efficiency for Data, Dev & MLOps
  • Develop and maintain ETL and machine learning pipelines for Data Science use cases
  • Perform code reviews, providing feedback and coaching on software development best practices
  • Deliver enduring value of software and modelling artifacts
Key Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering with a strong background in math, stats, machine learning, and software engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting software products in agile cloud environments
  • Core understanding of Software Development, Data Engineering, DevOps, and Data Science
  • Technology skills: Azure Cloud Architecture, Data Lakes, Databricks/Spark, Python, Typescript, Postgres, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, MLOps, Kafka, SQL, Airflow
  • Competent in MLOps tooling - Azure ML, Cognitive Services, Kubernetes, MLflow, Virtual Machines, GPU Acceleration
  • Competent in DevOps tooling - Azure DevOps Pipelines/Agents/Repos/Artifacts, Cloud Logging & Monitoring (Datadog), Kubernetes, Fortify, Jira, Confluence
  • Other skills: Azure CLI, MS Graph, Querying REST/GraphQL, Powershell, Bash Shell scripting, Linux, Windows, NGINX, VSCode, App Security, Serverless, Microservices, No-SQL, React
  • Competent in enterprise application delivery and design techniques, including continuous delivery
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in Automation & excellent documentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VPC, subnetting, VPNs, etc), security and optimization
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
