Recently, Canada Life was selected to be the administrator for the largest health care plan in Canada -- the Public Services Health Care Plan (PSHCP). This prestigious new client with over 750,000 plan members across the country and around the world will be moving to Canada Life effective July 1, 2023.

As part of the Public Service Plans team within National Accounts, you will be an integral part of the service team with responsibility for proactively and continuously addressing the evolving needs of PSHCP. You will foster a culture of exceptional service while you influence stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve the desired outcomes.

Reporting to the Senior Account Executive for the Public Service Health Care Plan (PSHCP), you will have the opportunity to be part of a collaborative and high performing team.

The Senior Service Consultant is a client-facing service position requiring a high degree of group benefits knowledge, superior organizational skills, and internal/external customer service abilities. This role would support one client to start (PSHCP). Over time, it would evolve into a more traditional Senior Service Consultant role with a caseload assignment of Major Group life and health accounts with a high rating of case complexity.

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in any region of Canada with preference for Toronto or Ottawa.

What will you do?

  • Attend and present at finalist meetings
  • Maintain direct contact with clients/advisors, proactively planning your client meetings to ensure awareness of developments and trends
  • Meet with clients/advisors to explain administrative and claims procedures
  • Conduct employee meetings to review plan details
  • Manage general administration inquiries from clients
  • Assist with claims escalations, consulting with Account Managers and Head Office contacts across various internal departments
  • Handle incoming amendment requests from clients/advisors
  • Assist on commission agreements account setup, changes and inquiries
  • Special projects and/or research assignments
  • Mentorship and knowledge transfer with peers
What will you bring?

  • Ability to solve problems and research information to determine appropriate decisions
  • Ability to work independently and set priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English
  • French writing and speaking skills are considered an asset
  • Three to four years of experience in Group Customer with a focus on Group Benefits products, systems and departments
  • Preference will be given to applicants with professional designations (or part thereof) such as CEBS or GBA
  • Completion of post-secondary education including college certificate, diploma or degree or equivalent education and experience
  • Ability to travel is required
