What You'll Be Doing
As a key member of our academic team, you'll play a vital role in delivering engaging, high-quality instruction and supporting student success. Responsibilities include:
Teaching Senior Secondary Biology (primarily) & Math (secondary) courses.
Creating thoughtful lesson plans and interactive learning activities.
Fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
Supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Fairly and consistently evaluating student progress.
Managing administrative tasks like grading and reporting on time.
Engaging in ongoing professional development.
Representing Coquitlam College's values in and out of the classroom.
Participating in extracurricular or community activities where possible.
What You Bring
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, preferably Biology related.
At least 1 year of teaching experience -- or an equivalent mix of education and experience, preferably Biology related.
A valid BC Teaching Certificate (Independent School or other Canadian provincial certificates also accepted). If it is a subject restricted certificate,
must
be able to teach Biology or general STEM Sciences. This is a requirement from the Ministry of Education- we
legally cannot
hire a candidate who does not hold one of the listed certifications.
