Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Senior Scheduler.

Senior Scheduler is an experienced influencing role which focusses on the creation and maintenance of the project schedule throughout the life cycle of the project, while providing informal mentoring and developmental support to the scheduling team. A key communicator of project health, working closely with the Production Planners and Project Controls team to monitor timelines, identify potential scheduling delays, and facilitate remedial action.

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Post-secondary degree; preferably in technical, engineering, or related discipline
  • Trade Certificate, Red Seal is considered an asset
  • Lean/Six sigma Yellow and Green Belts would be considered assets
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset
  • Experience: 4-7 years of planning & scheduling experience, preferably in a naval shipbuilding or repair environment
  • Interpretation of trade related drawings & work breakdowns for implementing into the schedule
  • Experience using Primavera P6 and MS Excel is required
  • Experience using Aveva or AutoCAD would be considered and asset
  • Thorough knowledge of naval repair methods considered an asset
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize contract documentation and estimating work/material sheets to create the project schedule
  • Ensure schedule budgets are maintained to accurately match project contracts as the scope of work evolves to include cancellations, adjustments, and increases in scope of work
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Team Lead, Planning Team, Project Manager, and QC to ensure activity breakdown, logic sequence, and inspection points are accurately maintained in the project schedule
  • Provide mentoring and schedule specific support to the Planning & Scheduling team
  • Daily maintenance of the Project Schedule with input from Production, Planning, Project Controls and QC to ensure the current progress of the project is accurately represented
  • Provide periodic efficiency, schedule health, and forecasting reports to the Production, Program, QC, Project Controls and Accounting teams
  • Assist the Scheduling Team Lead and Planning Manager in development of the Planning & Scheduling team by using experience to assist with understanding schedule maintenance, resource loading, and sequence logic
