Purpose



Whitecap Resources seeks a Senior Reservoir Engineer to become a fully integrated member of the West Division, with a focus on the Kaybob Duvernay unconventional asset. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to establish development plans, optimize completion designs, and ensure reservoir uncertainties and risks are understood and quantified for development purposes and accurate production forecasting.


In this role, you will provide in-depth Reservoir Analyses, as a part of the Asset Team, as it relates to:


Development planning and optimization with both short (budget) and long term (strategic) views Production forecasting A&D opportunities Reserves evaluations and strategies AER compliance and applications

Main Responsibilities & Activities:



Provide reservoir engineering technical support to the asset team to create, optimize and/or enhance the deliverability of oil and gas assets to deliver on the near term budget and long term corporate objectives. This will include:


Optimize well spacing, landing depths, and completion design using modern reservoir engineering methods (Modelling/RTA), analytics and incorporation of well tests/diagnostics into analysis in support of the asset development decisions Organization and analysis of technical studies, such as advanced core analysis, reservoir simulations and other laboratory work as required to progress reservoir characterization and delineation Work with asset team to plan, design and incorporate diagnostic tests (fibre optic monitoring, FDI analysis, perf imaging etc.) to progress completion understanding and development effectiveness Implementation of statistical methods, including traditional methods and machine learning for enhanced insights into well performance and identification of optimization opportunities Choke/Flowback management strategy development and implementation Coordinating, building and presenting pad lookbacks on recent pads with focus on learnings and improvement go forward ? Explore future EOR opportunities; develop screening and pilot plans as appropriate

Other duties include:



Ensure well testing requirements/evaluations are completed; includes coordination with operations group (includes, but not limited to, DFIT/BU analysis, FBA/PTA, Pressure surveys/Interference testing, PVT, chemical sampling, etc) Collaborate with asset team to review and assess reserve assignments for assigned fields Work with asset team to assess corporate OOIP/OGIP, recovery factors, and inventory locations Provide reservoir engineering support for strategic acquisitions and divestment opportunities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:



8+ years of reservoir engineering experience with a preference for experience in reservoir engineering for Unconventional gas condensate plays Ability to manage several projects and deadlines simultaneously Strong understanding of PVT and geomechanical concepts and their impact on pad development and optimization Excellent communicator with the ability to translate complex technical ideas to a diverse asset team Working knowledge of reservoir simulation tools such as Stream-Sim, Petrel & Eclipse and/or CMG Working knowledge of Harmony and Whitson+ * Strong programming and data analytics skills, and the ability to organize and extract valuable insights from complex datasets using statistics and machine learning methods
