Do you want to contribute to an organization that makes a difference in the lives of over half-a-million people? We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our Pension Legal & Plan Policy (PLPP) team in Toronto in the role of Senior Research Specialist.

In this role, you will be part of a team that provides leadership, expertise and solutions on pension administration, plan design, governance, advocacy, and pension initiatives.

The team\xe2\x80\x99s objectives are to resolve complex and technical pension policy issues, facilitate innovation, promote plan sustainability and meet the evolving needs and expectations of our members, employers and other stakeholders.

Reporting to the Vice President, Pension Legal & Plan Policy, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis, and providing assistance to the PLPP team on a broad range of matters. Such matters will include the development of presentations and other materials to generate meaningful discussions and drive strategic decision making.

As a member of the PLPP team, you will be responsible for:
Helping to lead the development of research products by creating innovative and meaningful research that leverages and builds upon our expanding work related to pension plans and social value.

Preparing presentations, reports, briefing notes and background materials for senior management, and PLPP team members, on research initiatives and other pension matters.

Researching, monitoring and analyzing trends in the pension sector, both domestically and internationally, to deliver insights and analysis.

Integrating and simplifying material on complex topics to develop a narrative and effectively convey key points.

Advancing a discussion around the role of pension plans in broader society.

Working collaboratively to assist in developing and communicating key insights, context and actionable strategies for each research project.

Driving thought leadership by connecting research to insights.

Conducting literature reviews and environmental scans to inform policy discussions.

Contributing to the development of intellectual capital.

Assisting in the development and implementation of research project work plans, including the scope of work and key deliverables.

Providing support and analysis on other pension projects as required.

To succeed in this role, you have:
A university degree, or equivalent, with 4-8 years of relevant work experience in financial services, consulting, government or other public policy work.

Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to consolidate research into clear and concise analysis and recommendations.

Strong communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.

A high proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.

A proficient understanding of retirement savings with a strong desire to learn more about pensions.

An ability to think outside of the box, provide new insights and ideas, and communicate these in a meaningful fashion.

An ability to work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively as part of team.

Excellent organizational, time-management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.

A strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
