About Us:
The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) is an international public-private partnership that supports the discovery of new medicines through open access research. The SGC Lab at the University of Toronto seeks a candidate with a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, biophysics or related field to join our protein-small molecule discovery efforts supporting early drug discovery projects.
Your Opportunity:
In a highly collaborative research environment, the qualified candidate will lead a small team in developing and optimizing assays for recombinant protein-small molecule interaction and inhibition. The candidate will be responsible for designing experimental strategies, reviewing data and trouble-shooting assays, engaging in collaborative projects within the SGC and with external partners in academia and the Pharma industry, preparing manuscripts and presenting at international conferences.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of experience with in vitro characterization of recombinant proteins with small molecules as evidenced in scientific publications. Expertise in quantitative protein-focused assay development using biochemical, enzymatic and biophysical methods is required. Experience with high throughput biotechnology platforms and instrumentation for biophysical protein characterization and analysis of small molecules binding affinity are essential. Experience in recombinant protein expression and purification, and supervisory experience is highly desirable.
