Position Overview

The Haskayne School of Business invites applications for a Senior Research Associate. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 2 years (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

The Senior Research Associate will report to Professor of Organizational Behaviour and Future Fund Chair in Leadership in the Haskayne School of Business. The candidate will be responsible for key leadership development research projects, focusing on the analysis and write-up of existing and archival data. The candidate will work closely with prominent Haskayne leadership researchers and various Alberta organizations in the realm of community-facing research and the broader \'leadership across the lifespan\' projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to delve deep into leadership research and have a meaningful impact on both the academic and applied aspects of the field.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate with Haskayne academics and graduate students on relevant research projects.
  • Engage in the dissemination of research primarily in academic research journals and practitioner outlets.
  • Conceive research designs, analyze quantitative data, and manage research projects.
  • Boost the research and community reputation of the Haskayne School and the University of Calgary in leadership.
  • Collaborate on both academic and applied leadership research.
  • Analyze leadership data, organize and prepare data archives.
  • Works with researchers to organize leadership training for research participants.
  • Engage in scholarly leadership-related research aiming for academic publication.
  • Undertake research with daily interactions with faculty and staff, requiring an appreciation of business school and research-oriented academic environment.
  • Summarizes and presents research to external stakeholders for progress updates and broader dissemination.
  • Assists in training researchers and graduate students on the proper use and application of advanced statistical technologies
  • Assists with writing grant proposals for funding, particularly for shorter projects (6-12 months long)
Qualifications / Requirements:
  • A minimum of a research-based master\'s degree in relevant fields, including statistics or quantitative, social, or organizational psychology, is required, with preference given to candidates holding a PhD or all-but-dissertation status.
  • Expertise in research design and analysis, along with demonstrated expertise in both basic (academic) and applied research is required and at least 3 years experience in leading social scientific research projects
  • Demonstrate evidence (peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations) of scientific psychological research is required. Minimum evidence of this includes at least one peer-reviewed publication, and an ability to articulate clearly and credibly possibilities for future research in basic and applied leadership research.
  • Capable of independent academic writing intended for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Strong research project management skills.
  • Proficiency in scientific research design, quantitative methods, and statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Mplus, Stata, R, PROCESS) for modelling and prediction.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn in a challenging environment.
  • Capable of negotiating rapid change and innovating change
  • Familiar with research-intensive, university environments, including reporting protocols for major granting agencies (e.g., SSHRC).
  • Experience with data preparation, validation techniques, documentation to ensure reproducibility, and applying for ethics approval.
