Job Description


Reporting to Dr. Amy Greer in the department of Population Medicine, we are seeking to hire a temporary full time Research Assistant/Technician II to assist with research program support and administration.

The position will be assigned to provide research program support within an infectious disease epidemiology research setting (within the Mathematical Epidemiology Lab: www.mathepilab.org) for 100% of their workload. Under the supervision of Dr. Greer, the key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Playing a key role in data evaluation, interpretation, and report preparation
  • Assisting graduate students in the context of their graduate research projects.
  • Contribute to, or co-author scientific papers; write manuscripts, protocols, grant proposals and other research presentations and documentation.
  • Investigate new hardware, software, and/or research methodologies to assist with research protocols.
  • Liaise with internal and external research team members for information exchange and collaboration.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, and research funding, drafting funding proposals and partnership agreements.
  • Support grant funding administration including preparation of reports and budgeting
Requirements for this position include: successful completion of an MSc (minimum) or PhD (preferred) in Epidemiology, or Biology (or other scientific discipline). Experience in manuscript and/or grant writing and grant administration is an asset. A minimum of 2 years prior experience working in a research support position is preferred. Excellent communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and excellent project management skills are all required competencies for the role.

The incumbent will be expected to work a 35-hour work week.
