Senior Quality Engineering Manager

As a Senior Quality Engineering Manager, you will be be responsible for developing and growing Quality Engineering teams within Best Buy Canada. This exciting role will allow the incumbent to be able to collaborate and evolve the Quality Engineering team's future by creating and implementing policy, procedure and standards that directly impact and align with key departmental goals.

At our head office, in beautiful Vancouver British Columbia, we practice a remote first working model, leveraging in-person interactions for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

What you'll do as a Senior Quality Engineering Manager:

Build and maintain a "best in class" testing organization from a hybrid of insourced and outsourced capabilities.

Oversee the stability, availability and change management of the test environments

Oversee activities with System Testing, vendors, partners, process owners, and other IT support areas to maximize the overall effectiveness of testing.

Manage, in coordination with stakeholders, testing activities by developing and communicating short-term strategies and objectives; establishing accountabilities and priorities; assigning and scheduling activities and resources

Oversee, in conjunction with stakeholders, the development of System Integration, Performance, Regression & User Acceptance testing plans to facilitate the most efficient, effective, and rapid testing

Mentor, lead and coach QA Leaders and members of the team to grow the technical knowledge and expertise of the team.

Manage the development and maintenance of User Acceptance Testing training materials and documentation.

Coordination with software release management

Encourage learning and development of the Community as a way improve performance & build organizational bench strength; works to develop a complementary team to strengthen the whole business.

Develop team members by coaching, training, providing career counselling and directing performance development through use of business performance and personal development goals.

Succession planning, recruiting, managing resources appropriately to ensure focus is on the core and business strategies/goals are met

Champion a healthy and vibrant Quality Engineering Community of Practice to ensure new innovative ideas are being brought forward and implemented from the Community

What we're looking for:

10+ years of increased responsibility and progression in software development and quality Engineering

5+ years' experience in managing resources directly or indirectly

Excellent project planning skills, including the ability to facilitate, present and organize

Ability to work in a fast-paced, continually changing environment

Demonstrated leadership abilities with effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to influence and persuade those not directly in reporting structure

Knowledge of business workflow modeling techniques, sue cases, and software development lifecycle best practices

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, and/or a related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training and professional experience
