As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced

Purchaser

to join our team.

The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, components, and services required for gasket manufacturing and distribution. This role ensures timely supply of quality gasket materials at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet production and customer demands. The Purchaser will also assist the Sales team in sourcing non-stock and "short buy" items across ATP's product lines.

Duties & Responsibilities

Sourcing & Supplier Management

Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers of gasket materials, sealing components, and other production-related items.

Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to optimize costs and lead times.

Assess supplier performance and address quality or delivery issues promptly.

Procurement & Inventory Control

Issue purchase orders in alignment with production schedules, sales forecasts, and stock level requirements.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels to balance cost efficiency and cash flow with production continuity.

Coordinate with Production and Sales teams to fulfill urgent orders and special projects.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure purchased materials meet required specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements (e.g., ASTM, ASME).

Work closely with the Production team to address non-conformance issues and manage supplier corrective actions.

Data Management & Reporting

Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records in ERP.

Monitor market trends, raw material prices, and freight rates to support budgeting and cost-control initiatives.

Prepare "buy runs" for management review.

Provide Sales and Production with timely order status updates.

Assist with the forecasting of future inventory and purchasing requirements to management.

Other

Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Maintain compliance with all ATP policies and procedures.

Qualifications

5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in industrial manufacturing, gasket/fastener distribution, or a related sector.

Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

Knowledge of gasket materials (metallic and non-metallic) and industrial supply chain processes is an asset.

Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Skilled in building supplier relationships, following up on orders, and maximizing efficiency.

Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and multitasking abilities.
