Duties and Responsibilities



Provide support to Supply Chain Director to plan and execute all purchasing processes. Assist in coaching, training and managing the performance of the new or junior staff. Monitor all purchasing activities and design various cost-effective methods, ensuring flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets turnover goals. Execute the negotiation of purchases requisitions and orders; and adapt negotiation strategies to cope with new circumstances or issues that arise. Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers. Stay current with internal and external factors impacting procurement function. Execute the organization's purchasing policies and procedures, standards and strategies. Propose alternative arrangement in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization. Recommend cost-savings alternatives for Director of Supply Chain's review and or considerations. Execute and process claims against suppliers. Ensure the accurate processing of all debits or damages, chargebacks and transfers based on Company policies and procedures. Source potential suppliers and maintain strong relationship with current ones. Analyze and evaluate vendors and/or suppliers' performance to improve purchasing process. Assist with PD and Sales on sourcing specific items for special projects. Organize, secure and maintain files and documentations in the database. Prepare routine reports for the Purchasing Department. Provides lead work task, support and direction for the Purchasing team in absence of the supervisor. Identifies varied sources of materials and evaluates standards for new products to assist team requirements and achieve material needs of the organization. Sustains continuous contact with vendors by maintaining comprehensive descriptions of products and current prices. Assist supervisor in acquiring knowledge of purchasing methods, market factors, reporting procedures, departmental procedures, regulatory needs and accounting principles to facilitate purchasing operations. Generate, review and track purchase order status for all materials. Oversees material flow to support planning production schedules based on inventory levels. Support the maintenance of ERP, worksheets, lists, and databases. Follow all applicable standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain safety, quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. Participate in and provide suggestions for the development and continuous improvement of all departmental processes.

Qualifications



5+ years of experience as a Purchaser. Post-secondary degree in purchasing management/administration or related field. Fluent in verbal and written English. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Experience in food / pharmaceutical / nutraceutical industry. Willingness to learn. Basic proficiency in mathematics (adding, subtracting, multiplying & dividing). Basic proficiency in using computers. Advance proficiency in using the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong in analytics. Strong decision-making. Strong negotiation. Strong organization. Excellent verbal and written communication. Strong in working with people and relationship building. Lift a minimum of 10 kg. Work independently on assigned duties. Balance a variety of competing priorities while meeting deadlines.

Must be in good health with no communicable diseases or dust allergies. Must follow appropriate gowning procedure before going into production area. Follow health & safety regulations.
