JOB POSTING # 904279 Position: Senior Project Manager, Planning Site: UHN Department: FM-PRO (Facilities Management – Planning, Redevelopment and Operations) Reports to: Executive Director, Planning, and Integration/ Research Facilities Status: Temporary Full-time (15 Month Contract) FM-PRO’s Vision: To provide excellence in service and the built environment for UHN and the communities we serve. As an integral member of the Planning and Integration team and under the direction of the Executive Director, Planning and Integration/Research Facilities, the SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, PLANNING is responsible for developing and planning multi-divisional, complex, and/or large-scale renovation projects with a high level of dependencies with other projects or initiatives. The Senior Project Manager will lead a team in the course of developing and planning projects, often involving the Ministry of Health (MOH) and external stakeholder oversight and engagement. MOH Capital Planning process experience is an asset. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for developing projects from initial concept through detailed design stages, and increasingly engage the Redevelopment team from the earliest stages until the project is fully transitioned to that team for implementation. The primary project for this position will be the proposed Proton Therapy Facility, however additional projects may be assigned as appropriate. The principal responsibilities include:

  • Leads and manages the development, planning and design of complex and/or large-scale renovation or redevelopment projects from project conception to procurement for implementation
  • Is the key point of contact for UHN Stakeholders involved in the project planning activities.
  • Prepares contracts and negotiates revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors. Hires and supervises the activities of consultants
  • Performing financial management activities
  • Managing all aspect of human resources (1-3 individuals)
  • Performing planning responsibilities- develops, implements, manages and reviews short and long-term plans which are in alignment with UHN’s goals and strategies
  • Performing quality management responsibilities
  • Performing administrative responsibilities to ensure the efficient operation of the department
  • Performing cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At minimum, completion of a bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Science, Architecture Engineering, Construction or other planning and management fields or recognized equivalent required
  • Graduate level studies in project management, business administration or other management highly desirable
  • At minimum, over 10 years up to an including 15 years practical and related experience
  • Five years related experience in the health care, public sector or planning sectors required
  • Seven years related experience in space planning, functional planning, health care design or project delivery in health care or mission-critical industry required
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset
