Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will have at least 3+ years of field experience in a technical capacity as Project Engineer, Mechanical. The successful applicant will be a detail oriented, hands-on team player who can work within a team to deliver projects and achieve superior results. With projects ranging anywhere from 1 to 24 months, the successful candidate will also be able to handle competing priorities and change direction quickly. They will be able to travel to projects throughout Alberta to assist with project coordination as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.
Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
Assist in schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others.
Assist in the maintenance of basic project record-keeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, and requests for information (RFIs).
Providing as-built quantities to the project for job progress tracking.
Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations.
Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages.
Provide field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's).
Participate in job site safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
Order and schedule material deliveries.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the job site; and
Additional and alternative duties that may be changed from time-to-time by the Employer.
May include duty travel, weekend work, evenings pending Project requirements
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is an asset.
Experience in Plumbing, Heating, HVAC.
Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
Strong computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with our field crews.
Basic computer aided drafting (CAD) training is an asset.
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
Willing to relocate and travel to projects throughout Alberta.
Minimum 5 year experience
Nunavut and NWT Experience preferred but not necessary
