Looking for a new and exciting job opportunity? We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join our Project Delivery Team!

What You Will Do


--------------------



Reporting to the Project Manager, you will lead the coordination and oversight of multi-year, multi-disciplinary capital projects from concept to close-out. Your role will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.



This includes the following:


Project Leadership:

Guide projects through all phases--scope definition, planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Scope Development:

Collaborate with project teams to define project concepts and scope that align with client needs and strategic goals.

Work Planning:

Develop comprehensive work plans, including contract phases, packaging strategies, budget allocations, and schedules.

Procurement Management:

Prepare RFPs for consultant design services and manage the selection process in partnership with the Procurement and Category Management (PCM) Department.

Design Oversight:

Review and approve engineering work plans (in-house or consultant) to ensure alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.

Consultant Supervision:

Monitor consultant and in-house design progress against established Terms of Reference (ToR) and Scope of Work (SOW).

Technical Documentation:

Oversee the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and commercial terms.

Bid Management:

Conduct site tours, present contract scopes to bidders, and lead technical bid evaluations and contract award recommendations.

Reporting:

Prepare Board Reports and coordinate inputs from departments such as PCM, Property, and Planning & Development.

Construction Support:

Provide engineering expertise during construction phases and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Budgeting:

Prepare project summaries and justification reports for capital budget submissions.

Public Engagement:

Participate in public consultation processes to support project transparency and community engagement.

What Qualifications Do You Bring

Educational Credentials




Completion of a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline or in Architecture. Licensed Professional Engineer or Architect in the Province of Ontario. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset.



Experience & Expertise




Extensive experience in project/construction and engineering management, particularly in heavy construction and large, multi-disciplinary projects. Deep understanding of current engineering principles and practices. Strong grasp of project management methodologies, including conceptual planning and all phases of design. Familiarity with project management information systems and reporting tools for scope, schedule, and cost control. Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques, contract administration, inspection processes, and the Construction Act.



Skills and Abilities




Excellent judgment, time management, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities. Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Proven ability to lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams. Skilled in navigating complex issues and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships. Ability to motivate, influence, and gain cooperation from diverse internal and external stakeholders.



Technical Proficiency




Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications. Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License.
