Job Title Senior Program Manager, Open Source Program Office & Development



WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

In the InnerSource and Open Source Program Office team we are passionate about changing the way we work in RBC. We want to enable software engineers and related roles to work freely across organizational boundaries and deliver business priorities that span divisions and artificially created organizational silos. Being part of our team means you will be part of building a new modern software development culture, that can effectively tackle the emerging challenges in the software development landscape, while removing developer friction points, and enable enterprise-wide collaboration.

As a Senior Program Manager you will be part of our small autonomous team using your experience and knowledge of program management, community building and best practices to solve problems that span across the organization. We are looking for top notch program managers who are great team players and obsessive about their work making an impact both internally and externally. You'll have the opportunity to grow and expand your capabilities within the RBC development community as learning and knowledge sharing will be second nature while applying your know-how to ensure that RBC is on the leading edge of InnerSource and Open Source practices.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Identifying, developing, and validating hypotheses regarding RBC's Open Source efforts.

Overseeing and shepherding programs from inception to completion across multiple disciplines and departments.

Collaborating closely with engineering teams on using, contributing to, and publishing code in collaborative, Open Source and InnerSource ways to guide their engagement and learn from their experiences.

Partnering with legal, security, and senior leadership to define polices, processes, and tools that eliminate friction in the engineering process.

Collaborating with industry peers to address the needs of large organizations practicing Open Source and InnerSource.

Engaging on internal and external projects creating better Open Source tooling and best practices

Use you communication and presentation skills to promote the work we are doing and share the latest best practices and initiatives with senior leaders at RBC

Stay abreast of the latest developments in Open Source and InnerSource in the rest of the industry and look for opportunities to implement those in RBC

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

Minimum 3 years experience of project or program management at a large enterprise.

Adept at managing project plans, resources, and people to ensure successful project completion

Experience in community building and brining people and teams together via different initiatives or events.

Ability to simplify complex problems and communicate them in plain language to stakeholders and executives.

Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities to work as part of a team or autonomously.

Nice-to-have:

Excellent collaboration skills through Open Source or InnerSource engagements.

Ability to create/evaluate minimal viable approaches for quick learning and iteration.

Some modern development, data science, or operations experience.

Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation.
