Wealth Management Operations -Senior Product Owner - Data
Purpose:
We are seeking someone that has a passion for change and building market leading expiences through innovative technology solutions within the Wealth Management landscape.
Our Wealth Digital Transformation team represents Canadian Wealth Managment businesses with a mandate to lead the strategy of innovation and transformative digital client and brokerage solutions bringing them to Clients and Advisors.
The Senior Product Owner is accountable for understanding the business strategy, end user roles/experiences and business process, and market trends to support prioritization and delivery of digital enhancments via an agile framework.
Leveraging their ability to organize and motivate teams within an incremental delivery environment, they will work with product lines, various stakeholders and software developers to translate customer journey directives into actionable backlog deliverables, and follow through to completion.
This role is specific to Data Management across Wealth Management. As a Senior Product Owner, you will be the business lead for all things Data - helping identify an Enterprise solution, solution individual project/program level data issues and provide ongoing support in solving or enhancing data management
Key Accountabilities

Specifically, the Product owner will:

  • Lead the data management stream for revamping how Wealth Management manages data
  • Help structure usage of and building of data elements and sources for various large scale programs underway
  • Lead business input in identifying and selecting an enterprise data management solution/software
  • Lead data solutioning for ongoing Agile labs from a business stand point
  • Play a leadership role in the Agile team to ensure that capabilities are in-scope, on-time and of high
quality
  • Translate WDT directives and Client and Advisor needs into backlog items. Serve as the primary source of
external information for the scrum team, offering clear definitions of the targeted capability, the intended value to the customer, and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Create product roadmaps for the development team(s). Author, refine and approve backlog items, with
clearly articulated acceptance criteria
  • Manage and prioritize backlog contents, ensuring sufficient depth of groomed items for consumption and
commitment
  • Apply incremental delivery principles, drive the delivery of business value, communicate progress, elicit
feedback and enable stakeholder reviews for validation in the process
  • Manage and engage with End Users frequently to ensure we understand their challenges and desires
  • Manage engagement with stakeholders and effectively communicate product release contents and
expected product capabilities/customer journey
  • Work closely with the Change Management team to support the training, communications and business implementation
  • Facilitate problem solving on a day-today basis as required, working closely with development team on
implementation challenges
  • Actively collaborate and engage with the agile team
  • Contribute to building organizational capability and expertise on agile adoption
  • Understand the industry trends to ensure the digitization of work is staying current in the market
  • Articulate and champion user experiences and journeys to ensure we have the future state well defined

Functional Competencies

Comprehensive knowledge of wealth management processes for Advisor and Client interactions
  • Understanding and hands on experience identifying, mapping, and building data sources, warehouses and data management layers
  • Passion for data management and how data can help solve business problems
  • Knowledge with wealth management product offerings & services
  • Knowledge of Agile principles

Educational Requirements

  • Under-graduate degree in business, or related discipline
  • MBA an asset
  • Certified Product Owner (CSPO) as asset
  • Industry designations an asset (e.g. Finance/Wealth - CFA, CSC, etc. Data & Analytics - CAP, DAC)
