What you'll do:

The Product Manager is accountable for the product lifecycle of their assigned product(s) beginning from product ideation and following through to product delivery and deployment. Gathering, analyzing competitive and market intelligence and understanding customers' needs and requests, the incumbent is responsible for creating and maintaining a product roadmap to ensure the profitability and viability of the products within the assigned portfolio. Within Moneris, the Product Manager is the central point for the voice of the customer. In order to be successful, the incumbent works collaboratively with their Technology counterparts to achieve corporate goals.

  • Lead a team of Product Managers. Able to hire new staff, train, coach and motivate staff.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to formulate product long-term strategy. Collaborate with other Senior Product Managers to ensure alignment of product portfolios against overarching product and corporate strategies.
  • Develop and execute an 18 month - 3 year product roadmap for assigned portfolio. Manages all elements of the product life cycle including gathering and creating product requirements, introducing new features and functionality (including determining the appropriate product solution bundle), retiring outdated or redundant features, and providing product support for product launches
  • Develops solution concepts to address opportunities, gaps and/or requirements to maintain competitiveness of product offering, consulting on concepts with Technology, and developing comprehensive business cases to support decisions and prioritization
  • Prioritizes product requirements against resources and revenue opportunities to maximize impact of future releases against achieving published corporate priorities
  • Ensures all required technology driven changes are prioritized and included in roadmap. Also ensures all regulatory and compliance requirements are prioritized within the roadmap to meet required timelines
  • Manages, solicits and obtains feedback from clients, sales, technology and operations on tech trial and pilot, working with the organization to deliver best in market solution and address / prioritize any remediation needed prior to commercial launch
  • Customer visits for requirements gathering, solution feasibility), product demonstrations, roadmap
  • In collaboration with Technology, works with third-party companies/vendors to assess partnership opportunities, and managing such relationships as required. Also, in collaboration with Sales and Technology, evaluates requests for customization from clients for inclusion in standard product releases
  • Identifies key success and performance metrics of product offerings within assigned products, and adjusting as required to achieve targets. Works with Product Commercialization, Operations and Sales to ensure that products meet product launch success criteria. As well as, Assists the Sales and Client Integration teams in product presentations to key accounts and/or the preparation of sales proposals and responses to RFPs
  • Becomes the product evangelist and the company's go-to person and industry expert
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with Technology partners to ensure transparency and communication of activities involved in the product readiness and support of products as aligned with the overall Product roadmap and life cycle management.
  • Fosters collaborative relationship with Marketing to prepare a successful go to market strategy.
  • In collaboration with Technology and Partnership teams, works with third-party companies/vendors to assess partnership opportunities, and managing such relationships as required.
  • In collaboration with Sales and Technology, evaluates requests for customization from clients for inclusion in standard product releases.
  • Works with Operations and Sales to ensure that products meet product launch success criteria.
  • Becomes the product evangelist and the company's go-to person and industry expert.
  • Assists the Sales and Client Integration teams in product presentations to key accounts and/or the preparation of sales proposals and responses to RFPs.
  • Comply with corporate policies established by Moneris Corporation including but not limited to the HR Code of Conduct, Technology Policy & Privacy Policy.
  • Perform other duties, as required.
Minimum Position Requirements

Education and/or Professional Designation: . University degree in Business/Marketing/Commerce or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Equivalent job experience can be considered as a substitution.
  • MBA or equivalent post grad professional qualification is an asset
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered a substitution
Minimum Experience: . 7-10 years of Product Management experience including a proven track record in developing strong product roadmaps and requirements gathering; experience in related verticals is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical understanding preferably in the software development product life cycle
  • Hands-on experience with devices, handsets, accessories, terminals an asset; willingness to experiment and use the technology that is being developed even though this role doesn't reside within the technology department.
  • Must have strong planning, project and portfolio management skills and experience with project lifecycle management in a technology-dependent environment. Scrum and Agile project management an asset.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with a track record of identifying and defining opportunities, gaps or improvements, and recommending effective solutions to complex issues.
  • Previous experience in the payment industry considered an asset
Technical Skills: . Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Visio
  • Understanding of programming languages, APIs, technical architecture considered an asset
Language Skills: . Fluent in English (reading, writing, and verbal)
  • Excellent verbal (including presentation) and written communication skills with the ability to translate technology into simple language and product requirements into technical language.
Soft Skills: . Proven people management and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to build successful business relationships and influence up, down and across the organization.
  • Innovative, resilient, team player, results oriented, adaptable to frequent changes, willing to forge ahead even if risky or unclear
